trun|nion «TRUHN yuhn», noun.
1. either of the two round projections from the barrel of certain cannons, one on each side, which support it on its carriage and act as a pivot in elevation.
2. either of any similar pair of opposite supporting pins or pivots.
3. a single projecting pivot.
